House in Minamiazabu

東京都心の住宅密集地に建つ、夫婦と子ども3人のための地上3階建て・屋上付きの鉄筋コンクリート造の住宅である。それぞれの個室を確保しながら、家族で過ごす時間とゲストを迎える時間を両立できる住まいを望まれ、1・2階を家族のためのフロア、3階をゲストを招ける広いリビングとダイニングキッチンを併設したフロアとして計画した。
敷地は南側が住宅密集地の道路に面し、北側は寺の境内に接している。近隣との距離の近さやプライバシーに配慮し、南側の開口部には植栽と目隠しルーバーを設け、北側では壁面を後退させて障子を用いることで、視線をやわらげながら光と風を建物の内部に取り込んでいる。
3階はリビングとダイニングキッチンが一体となったワンフロア構成で、南北両面の大開口を全面的に開放することで、都市の中にいながらリゾートホテルのラウンジのような開放的な空間を実現している。フロア中央には大きなトップライトを設け、自然光が柔らかく降り注ぐ。北側のダイニングからはテラスに直接出ることができ、植栽越しに寺の緑を借景として楽しむことができる。テラスではバーベキューなどの屋外アクティビティも行えるようにした。さらに、3階テラスの螺旋階段が屋上テラスへとつながり、立体的に緑の風景を楽しむことができる。
1階のエントランスでは、小松石の敷石と洗い出し仕上げによる日本庭園のような設えが来訪者を迎える。2階・3階の南側の窓際には逆梁が通るが、窓の高さを上げて造作ベンチと植栽を施すことで、光と緑を感じながらくつろげる場所を生み出している。都心の住宅特有の密度の中にありながら、自然とつながる開放感をもつこの住まいは、クライアントが望んだ「日常」と「非日常」を往来するような暮らしを実現している。

The client envisioned a home that accommodates both everyday family life and gatherings with guests. The first and second floors are dedicated to private spaces, while the third floor combines a generous living area for entertaining with a dining kitchen for daily use.
The site faces a narrow residential street to the south and a temple ground to the north. To balance openness with privacy, the southern facade features greenery and wooden louvers, while the northern side is set back and fitted with shoji screens that soften both the light and the breeze entering the home.
The third floor is an open-plan living and dining space, where custom-made sliding windows on the north and south sides can be fully opened to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a resort lounge.
A large central skylight draws daylight deep into the interior, and the dining area opens directly onto a terrace. The planting visually merges with the temple greenery beyond, allowing the family to enjoy outdoor activities like barbecues in a setting connected to nature. A spiral staircase leads from the terrace to the rooftop, allowing greenery to be experienced as a continuous landscape.
At the entrance, the combination of Komatsu stone paving and exposed-aggregate finishes evokes the calmness of a Japanese garden. Along the south facade of the second and third floors, high set windows with integrated benches and planting places to relax while feeling the presence of nature.
Within the urban context, the house captures both intimacy and openness, allowing its residents to shift effortlessly between the rhythms of everyday life and moments of quiet retreat.
