ISHINOMAKI STOOL – Maker Pack

The ISHINOMAKI STOOL was originally designed for a workshop organized by the American furniture brand Herman Miller, where furniture was created together with residents of temporary housing and local elementary school students. In developing the stool, members of Ishinomaki Laboratory carefully studied the living conditions within the temporary housing. They observed that many residents were using beer crates as improvised seating. There was also a clear need for a small step to access overhead storage, as well as a seat for putting on shoes at the entrance. Responding to these everyday realities, a compact and lightweight stool was created: simple in form, yet thoughtfully attuned to the practical needs of daily life.
